On April 1, 2026, Chinese Consul General Yang Yi visited Ahmed, Deputy Director-General of the Mecca Branch of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and presented his consular appointment letter. Deputy Consul General Su Yongbin was also present.

Yang stated that he was honored to assume the post of the new Consul General of China in Jeddah. In recent years, under the joint guidance of the two heads of state, China-Saudi Arabia relations have flourished, political mutual trust has deepened, and pragmatic cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. China and Saudi Arabia are comprehensive strategic partners, and the Chinese Consulate General is willing to work with the Saudi side to continue to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and make new and greater contributions to China-Saudi Arabia friendship.

Ahmed warmly welcomed Yang to his new post and stated that the Mecca Branch is willing to provide all support and convenience for Yang in performing his duties and for the work of the Chinese Consulate General.
