On June 28th 2025, Consul General in Jeddah Wang Qimin attended the inaugural flight ceremony for Hainan Airlines' new direct route between Jeddah and Haikou at King Abdulaziz International Airport. Mazen Johar, CEO of Jeddah Airports Company (JEDCO), and Ouyang Hao, General Manager of Hainan Airlines' in Jeddah, along with other relevant officials were present at the ceremony.

Wang Qimin extended congratulations to Hainan Airlines on the launch of the new route. He highlighted that China has implemented a visa-free policy for ordinary Saudi passport holders, warmly welcoming friends from all sectors in Saudi Arabia to take full advantage of the convenient measures such as visa-free travel, direct flights, convenient payment options, and instant tax refunds for a spontaneous trip to China. He expressed hopes that the new direct route would continuously provide new opportunities and inject fresh momentum into the practical cooperation between China and Saudi Arabia, serving as a tribute to the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Mazen Johar stated that the launch of Hainan Airlines' direct route would further promote economic and trade cooperation between Saudi Arabia and China, continuously facilitate personnel exchanges, strengthen cultural ties, and boost the development of Saudi Arabia's tourism industry.

Jeddah-Haikou route will operate three weekly flights on every Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.
